the second 24

Our 48 is now over, I’m sad to say. Yep, back to the real world time. I’m trying not to be sad…I had so much fun. And while I didn’t get as much read as I’d sort of hoped I would, I got a lot more read than I would have otherwise.

So—what did I read? Finished three books I already had started (Ship Breaker, Shivers, Wishes, and Wolves, and Priceless: The Vanishing Beauty of a Fragile Planet), read some in three other books I already had started (one chapter in A Householder’s Guide to the Universe, three short stories from How Beautiful the Ordinary, and fourteen chapters of 2001: A Space Odyssey), and read two books start to finish (By the Time You Read This, I’ll Be Dead and Two Weeks with the Queen).

Maybe I’ll even talk about these books over on my other blog. Despite the fact that I suck at talking about books. But if I don’t get around to it, let me just say here and now—you should read Two Weeks with the Queen!!! Seriously. You really, really should! Honestly, I’d be mighty surprised if it didn’t make my list of favorite reads for the year…that’s how much I loved it. If you happened to have missed it, you should go read Ana’s review

And if I didn’t say it yesterday, I wholeheartedly recommend Julie Anne Peter’s By the Time You Read This, You’ll Be Dead, too. It was heart-wrenching to read, but so worth it.

I suppose it would get old if we did this every weekend, but at this point it’s really tempting to wish we could. :D

And Chris, thank you so much for joining us…we’ve been missing you already!
