sadly when my kids were growing up no one came near the kitchen. most especially not even to put their dish in the dish washer..however, it made it to the counter!

one busy little room
Our kitchen has had a workout today. They (whoever “they” actually is) say it’s the heart of the home, right? Today our kitchen has been home to homework projects, test grading, origami cube folding, email reading, lots of talking, a fair bit of laughing, a wee bit of cursing, and of course those normal kitchen activities like cooking, eating, and cleaning up.
But we had two special projects going today. I brought these beauties home from the farmers market this morning:

And in my first ever attempt at jam-making, turned them into this:

(With a little left over in the fridge to eat right away…of course.)
And for Rich, it was back to brewing.

His first batch of beer since last fall is now underway.

Hard to believe that before long *this* is going to be beer:

I so love it that Rich enjoys brewing as much as I enjoy canning. :)

And Chris, maybe this summer you two can get around to brewing together! :D
Okay, best be off now. One more job for that kitchen tonight—baking this week’s cookies…
