Happy tears this morning.
Thank you, thank you, thank you New York State government. You are quite the dysfunctional bunch much of the time, but last night you made me proud. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to every one of you who voted for the marriage equality bill.
I want to say a special thank you to Jim Alesi, the man who has been our state senator the entire eight years we’ve lived here. I’ve never voted him. We’ve agreed on maybe two things in all this time. :P I’ve written to him about a number of issues, but probably never as often on any one issue as I did about marriage equality. And it wasn’t until last week, when he announced that he would change his vote to yes, that I ever had occasion to send him a letter of thank you. And now, I’d just like to say thank you publicly as well.
Yes, this is quite the happy start to my unofficial first day of summer.
